🪩BRAINCHILD BALL 2025🪩 Celebrating the tenth year that @thepirateshipfoundation has put together this incredible event that has raised MILLIONS to help fund research into childhood brain cancer! Pretty much every year I’ve said to Link “how much fun would it be to get all our friends together to come along” and this year as I was contemplating organising a long table lunch for my 40th (in June) nothing felt quite right. Those who really know me, know how much I hate being the centre of attention (shockingly so), so I had the bright idea to put that budget in to getting several tables at this years ball, and putting the focus on this incredible cause instead. Cannot begin to describe the feeling of 40 of yours closest friends having the time of their lives and already saying we’re doing it again next year! If you haven’t already been to this gala, grab your besties and make sure you’re onboard for next year! Shoutout to the dream team for rolling this turd in glitter yet again. It takes a village. Didn’t ever think I’d need to print out a sign for this reason, but during one of our Saturday classes somebody decided to take a sip of the nectar of the gods thinking that it was water. Was it from a gigantic electric wax melter? Yes Was the lid off and the liquid visibly yellow? Yes Does even standing near the unit allow you to feel the heat radiating? Also yes But that didn’t stop our thirsty queen from taking a sip, and so here we are. Please don’t drink our candle wax 🫠

✏️That’s a wrap on our Kids School Holidays Classes 📚 140 kids (and their grown up helpers) came through our doors last week and created some fragrance MAGIC! The reason I started TPP was to get people to do good in a way that feels good. Each child that attended received a pink token that they could choose to donate $1 from their session to either @braveheartsprotectkids @thebutterflyfoundation @thepirateshipfoundation all who are doing incredible stuff for young people who need it. Whilst the donations were pretty much split evenly, we decided to supercharge the amount to $100 each for a lil extra love. Amazing work guys 👏🏼💕

If you’re expecting for me to inspire you with a rags to riches tale, then you’re gonna be sorely disappointed *record scratch* Get ready to not feel sorry for me in the slightest. I had a pretty amazing upbringing. I come from a good home, a loving family, went to a private school (where I got pretty good grades) and seemingly had it all. Nearing 30 I found myself on a hamster wheel of exisiting in an admin job I HATED (cos I didn’t want to push myself and go to uni and have a career as I had already told myself I would be a failure), going to bed every night feeling anxious about having to do it all again the next day and masking my severe depression by partying and pretending to be “normal” (whatever THAT is). All because ever since I can remember I had an inner critic telling me I was stupid, worthless and would never amount to anything. Safe to say given all the privilege and opportunity I had been provided with, I had pretty much wasted it all. Imagine if someone who grew up with so much and had parents who never pressured her, but believed in her and told her she could grow up to be whatever and whoever she wanted to be could STILL end up like this is scary. The reason I am sharing this is not because I want you to feel sorry for me (in fact, I absolutely HATE people feeling sorry for me), but to shine the light on the fact mental health, anxiety, depression, can happen to ANYONE. Every time you place...

🎶 I’m working late...cos I make candles 🎶 You know those people who are all “I’m just like, a really positive person”? Not me. When you’ve spend the last (nearly) 40 years telling yourself that you are nothing, you don’t matter, and whatever you do you will fail at, it’s pretty much guaranteeing yourself an all-inclusive one way first class ticket on the Saddies Express. Most of my childhood, teenage years and into 20’s were spent feeling like there was this incredibly heavy darkness in me, that I masked behind blending in, people pleasing and pretending to be “normal” (*starts twitching in the corner*). Imposter Syndrome just entered that chat also. The real turkey slap came when I turned 30, was simply existing on the hamster wheel of my life, realised no one was going to come along and save me or fix my life for me and I felt like I had wasted a lot of my life purely from a fear of failure. Starting this biz 10 years ago, and of course having a daughter gave me a sense of purpose and a reason to be a better human so that when minor inconveniences happen, oh you know, like a car flying through your studio window nearly killing you and destroying everything you spent 10 years building in the blink of an eye, you put your big girl pants on and handle it, because this is so much bigger than just making candles or perfume. The last 12 months in particular has really fulfilled me when it’s come to the philanthropic side of TPP. I have felt like I’ve genuinely been able to help real life people in tangible ways and I can’t even begin to describe to you how much this lights me up inside (pun NOT intended, but acknowledged) and I’m forever grateful to all of you who believed in me, even when I didn’t believe in myself. In the words of my favourite poet @wildspark.co “Mama didn’t raise no bitch”.
